“We had a great time staying here and and I would stay here again. The cabin is just as described. It was very clean and well stocked! The only reason I rated it with 4 stars instead of 5 is because we found that more lighting would have been helpful in the kitchen and at the dining table for doing a jigsaw puzzle.”

Staying in Homewood
Homewood is the West Shore at its quietest: a string of homes between the lake and a steep, forested ridge, a few minutes south of Tahoe City on CA-89. Homes line the lake side of the highway and the streets climbing toward Homewood Mountain on the other. There is no downtown to speak of, and that is the point. Mornings are for the bike trail and the lake; evenings are for the deck.
Homewood Mountain Resort is in town, a smaller mountain whose runs look straight down onto the water; check its current season and operating days before planning a ski trip around it. In summer, the shoreline, the small public beach at Chambers Landing, Sugar Pine Point State Park and the paved West Shore trail fill the days.
Getting around
Tahoe City is the nearest place for groceries, restaurants and the Truckee River Trail, about ten minutes north. Palisades Tahoe is roughly twenty-five minutes away, and Emerald Bay about twenty minutes south. CA-89 is the only road along the West Shore, so check conditions in a storm.
