What is Martis Camp?

Martis Camp homes among the pines, seen from a distance

Martis Camp is a low-density master-planned community of 671 homesites on 2,177 forested acres. Estate homesites average more than an acre and a half; smaller cabin homesites run about a third to half an acre. The club, Martis Camp Club, runs the amenities: golf, a ski lodge on Northstar, a clubhouse, a family activity building, a lakefront beach club and a network of private trails.

It was developed by DMB Associates of Arizona, and the golf course opened in 2008. The original developer sold out its homesites years ago, so every purchase today is a resale.

Is Martis Camp open to the public?

No. This is the most searched question about the place, so here is the plain answer:

  • The gate is staffed. There is no public entry, no day pass and no public tour program.
  • The amenities are for members. Owning a home and belonging to the club are separate steps, and the amenities follow club membership.
  • Guests go in with a member. Friends and family of members can use the facilities under the club's guest rules.
  • Buyers tour with an agent. If you are genuinely shopping for a home, a real estate agent can arrange to show a listing.
  • The chairlift is private. You cannot ride the Martis Camp Express from Northstar into the community.

Please respect the gate. The roads beyond it are private, and residents value their privacy. For the same reason we don't name residents here.

Skiing: the Martis Camp Express and Lookout Lodge

The members-only Martis Camp Express, a high-speed chairlift, climbs from inside the community to Northstar's Lookout Mountain in about six minutes. Lookout Lodge, about 8,000 square feet, is the members' ski lodge at the bottom. The lift gets you onto Northstar; you still need a Northstar ticket or an Epic Pass to ski it. Northstar targets November 20, 2026 for opening day.

Camp Lodge and the Family Barn

Camp Lodge, about 50,000 square feet, has dining, a spa and fitness center, and an outdoor lap pool with soaking tubs. The Family Barn, about 18,000 square feet, has bowling, a pool, a movie theater, a soda fountain and an outdoor amphitheater.

In fall 2025 the club bought the former Mourelatos Lakeshore Resort, a family-run lakeside resort for nearly 50 years, adding 275 feet of shoreline and about 17,250 square feet of beach. Members get kayaks, paddleboards, food and drink, and valet parking. It is private; the public beaches nearby are listed below.
